WHERE
WILL YOU BURY YOUR HEART?
The
Middle East points to one nation that
people love or hate!
Since Israel became a nation this
has been a center of great war!
In Jerusalem many travelers come
to connect with the land and buildings
for three major religions: Jewish;
Muslim, and Christianity. The
trips many make to this wonderful
land is a journey of the heart.
Last week on national television,
motivational speaker Dave Roever
said, "I will have my heart buried
in Viet Nam!" Years ago when
he was in the military over 60% of his
body was burned in battle.
Instead of becoming bitter he went on
to use his disfigurement as a lesson
to millions around the world that,
"my scars are on the outside, what
are you doing with the ones on the
inside of your life?"
Dave Roever has gone back to the
place in Viet Nam where he was injured.
He has been with the people who
fought against him. He has fallen in
love with the children of that country.
Now his efforts have brought millions
of dollars of clothing, educational
supplies, and medical help to the
land where he was physically maimed.
Instead of hate for the people of the
land, there is love. His request is that
his heart would be buried there.
David Livingstone marched through
Africa helping people in his mission.
When he died they shipped his body
to London, England, but his heart
was buried in the land of the people
he loved.
Sam Sasser traveled to every one
of the 29 Atoll Marshall Islands. At
many of those islands the second
World War was fought. He loved the
people on small islands of the Pacific.
His body is buried in the USA, but
his heart is laid to rest outside of
Majurio, Marshall Islands.
These men have and had a great love
of people in different lands.
What people will you love?
Who will you give your heart to?
Today I'm in the midst of many
religious pilgrims. This is a point
on the world map that has much
controversy.
In life you must look beyond names
and geography. Look at the people!
There will be a place and space in
this world where your love can be
great. You might not literally bury
your heart like Roever, Livingstone,
and Sasser...but there is a joy to
be found in opening your heart to
others.
Give yourself to love people in such
a way! Great positive change can
come through you, where there has
been love and hate.
